Re: This Friday

Coeburn
Clintwood
Gate City
Appy

PV better conditioned than Appy? I don't think so. Robbins trains his team to be conditioned, but it's not something they have to rely on heavily. The reason for that is numbers. A kid gets fatigued, ya take him out a play or two to get his wind back. And that's easier for a team like PV when you have the numbers and talent to use for replacement. But Appy comes to play and they'll not quit. Not to mention both teams are practically guaranteed playoff spots, so this one is more about pride and momentum. I think it'll be close, but the Dawgs should come away with a hard fought victory.

Pound and Clintwood better than their record? I would say definitely both teams are. But what'll beat Pound in this game is what beats them when ever they do lose: coaching. That's Pound's biggest weakness. And keep in mind I'm only going by what I hear from a woman I work with who's son is on the team and from what I saw when I watched them play Appy.

Gate City has home field and a hall of fame coach. That's a good size advantage. And playing this year's Burton squad, they'll need some added advantages. It'll be close, but Gate City ain't no pushover and should pull it out.

Kelly vs. Coeburn? I hope Kelly wins just to prevent an 0-20 2 year run. But I think Coeburn has enough gas in the tank to beat 'em.

Re: This Friday

Oh no, that was not my intention. I went to and graduated from PV, I'm embarrassed to say. I was even on the team for 2 yrs. I got a state ring for just standing around. lol But unless things have changed dramatically in the last 13 years, Phil Robbins runs his team to death. They are very well conditioned. My point is just that conditioning isn't something they have to rely on heavily due to the number of players they have. It's so much easier on a team when you have the numbers to field completely independant O and D squads. The conditioning doesn't factor in much since they have very few, if any, players playing both ways.

Re: This Friday

Clintwood 41
Pound 7

Clintwood gets to play for pride for the 6th year in a row. Are they cursed? No one knows for sure, but any year you beat PV and don't get in is a disappointment. Havings said that, Clintwood had their chances and didn't capitalize. Gate City didn't show up at Bullitt Park and effectively ended the Greenwave season two weeks early.

Even though the Wave are way down this year compared to the last two seasons, I thought this might be the year. Maybe next year...!

Well hell, if you get hit in the noggin by a meteorite you'll have a big ole hole in your head too you know! You've got as much chance of that happening as you do of 8 Ounces beating the little green men AND Twin Valley defeating Hurley! Through the grapevine they said that Twin Valley was having a tough time this past week just dressing out 11 players for practice! And besides, 8 Ounces won't be able to stop Kenny Dotson from running all over 'em!

Go figure, Sherlock!

You might as well start pumping up those basketballs, 8 Ounces! Not going nowhere after playing Clintwood this Friday but to the basketball gym hyuk hyuk! But so are the little green men of Clintwood, so at least you'll have company!
